Setting Up Project Life

I spent a bit of time playing around with Project Life this weekend, and I think I’ll be reworking much of 2011 into this system, and getting 2012 set up. Having so many digital kits and a laser printer that will chunk out a lot of them without going through a ton of ink cartridges (I love this printer), I worked on creating some hybrid 4×6 cards. I can see right off that with the way I work, I need the weeks set up in advance. I’ve also found it interesting on which products print well and which really look better on the computer screen. There is a difference. And, you need to switch the image mode to CMYK if it’s not already there, otherwise the colors turn out a bit wonky.

And, between some simple paper products and digital elements, it’ll be a cinch to create monthly sets of cards. THIS, I love. I can quickly crank out the digital part, but in all honesty, I’m still struggling to get the small bits of paper elements on there. It takes longer for that than creating and printing up the cards – but everything has its learning curve, I suppose.

More on how I’m using Project Life to come as soon – I haven’t been this excited about scrapbooking in a LONG time.

I’m doing mine a little differently. I’m doing both paper scrapping & digital but I do mine first on the ‘puter then I do the paper. Because I have a personal cutter, many of the embellishments I have can be printed and then attached. However, some of the paper YOU are using is simply gorgeous! You will show us a few of the finished pieces, right?

You bet I’ll be showing finished pages. I’m absolutely amazed at how well so many of the digital page kits I’ve got print out on that printer. And because it’s NOT an ink jet, the toner cartridges last for a long time (especially when you trick it into thinking it just got a new one when it’s not out of ink).

Put some of yours up, Holly, on your site. I’ll be watching for them! :)
